I am a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University, where I also serve as Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Civics Minor. I am also affiliated faculty at the Stanford Center for Latin American Studies and the Stanford Center on Poverty and Inequality, and a faculty fellow at the Stanford Poverty, Violence, and Governance Lab. 

My research explores the intersection of social networks and economic history, with broader interests in entrepreneurship and political economy. My regional expertise spans Latin America and the Middle East. I previously served as a Postdoctoral Associate in Economics at New York University Abu Dhabi and as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Bordeaux. I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Los Andes.

Beyond academia, I contribute to public conversations as an op-ed columnist for Forbes and host of The Economic and Political History Podcast. I also direct The Civic Agora, a media initiative dedicated to fostering informed public engagement with the ideas that shape civic life.
