I am a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University. I am also a member of the Stanford Civics Initiative and anaffiliated faculty of the Stanford Center for Latin American Studies and the Stanford Center for Poverty and Inequality. I have been a Postdoctoral Associate in Economics at New York University Abu Dhabi and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Bordeaux. I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Los Andes. My research centers on the intersection between social networks and economic history, extending to entrepreneurship and political economy topics.
My geographical areas of specialty are Latin America and the Middle East.
I regularly contribute to different news outlets. I am a Forbes Magazine op-ed columnist and host of The Economic and Political History Podcast and The Civic Agora.Â
